Proposal for a COUNCIL REGULATION fixing for 2019 and 2020 the fishing opportunities for Union fishing vessels for certain deep-sea fish stocks
1. The Regulation sets Total Allowable Catches (TACs) and Quotas for deep sea stocks in EU and certain non-EU waters for the years 2019 and 2020. It also sets specific conditions under which the quotas may be fished. The proposal is based on scientific advice provided by the International Council for the Exploration of the Seas (ICES).
2. The Parliamentary scrutiny history relevant to this proposal is contained in the attached Annex B.
3. Responsibility lies with the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, as well as Scottish Ministers, Welsh Ministers and Northern Ireland Executive Ministers.
INTEREST OF THE DEVOLVED ADMINISTRATIONS
4. The Devolved Administrations have been consulted in the preparation of this Explanatory Memorandum. Scottish Government Ministers have an interest in this proposal from the Commission as they have a fishing interest in some of these deep-sea stocks.
